There are some more questions for me:
- What happens if the part number is already present in my catalogue?
- How do I see the imported component. Is there a sort of property available that shows it is imported? I think there must be, otherwise my downloaded components will get uploaded again?
- I would like to see more information before downloading. Is there a layout? What fields are present? Etc. How do I do this?
- How do we prevent a database with all different manufacturers? We currently have 3 time Allen Bradley, 4 times Hoffman?
Thanks for posting on the forum.
We moved your forum post to the online parts catalogue forum.
Please post to this forum for any questions relating to the online parts catalogue.
What happens if the part number is already present in my catalogue?
If the part number already exists in the same class as the downloaded part, the part in your local catalogue will not be overwritten and the imported part will be ignored.

To open an imported part, you can open it the same way as opening any other part; via the Create/Add tab or Catalogue Tools tab.
There is no property visible to the user that shows that a part was imported or created by themselves.
We have background processes to ensure that multiple parts of identical part numbers do not exist on the online parts catalogue.
I would like to see more information before downloading. Is there a layout? What fields are present? Etc. How do I do this?
If there is a layout, you will see it by clicking on the part in the online parts catalogue, as shown in the tutorial.
From the online parts catalogue, the most common properties are shown; part number, class, manufacturer, description, image, layout view.
If you want to see what the other properties are before you import the part, download the part, then open it in SkyCAD by double-clicking on the package file you downloaded. This will allow you to view all the properties in read-only mode.
If you're happy with it, select it in the tree view, and import it via the Import tab.

As this is only the first version of the online parts catalogue, there are still things to be improved, such as this.
In the meantime, at least users can download the parts they want by searching for the part number.
Thanks. Lets wait for the database to be filled
