#1 Wire numbering

Hi Jeff,

I have an issue with wire numbering.

I’d like to set a numbering format for all connection wires in a project as follow:

<page number>-<column><row><#>

And number # change from top to bottom and left to right.

I followed the tutorials, but wires are always numbered 1,2,3, ….

How can I customize wire numbering?

Also, I’d like to set power lines colors:

460 VAC 3ph - black

230 VAC 2ph - red

120 VAC 1ph - red

Neutral N - gray

How to set these power lines colors?

And one more question, can I add symbol library, let say “Tensor” and put there only symbols I need?

Regards,

Thanks for posting on the forum.

All of that can be done. Here is instructions, sorting by the optimal sequence to execute them.

Yes. This forum thread will explain how.

How to set these power lines colors?
Create a new connection symbol for each colour you want.

How can I customize wire numbering?
We assume you want to use this wire numbering for your new connections symbols that you are going to make. As such, when you are creating each new connection symbol, do this when you have each symbol open in editing mode:

  1. Go to the Connection Tools tab and select Set numbering format
  2. Copy/paste the following into the Value cell of the numbering format:
    <r:GetSheetNumber>-<r:GetFirstConnection.Column><r:GetFirstConnection.Row><#>
  3. Click OK and continue saving your connection the library

Wire numbering

Hi Jeff,

  1. Wire numbering.

This is exactly what I’m doing. If I manually enter wire number, for example 24V power supply and the when I link it to other pages it update numbering, but the rest of wires no. See next screenshot.

  1. Symbol library. Maybe I wasn’t clear. I know how to add a folder to existing library, but what I want is to add a library as IEC and IEEE and to put there only symbols I need.

Thank you.

KI

Did you run Renumber Wires?

Ah, OK. It is possible to add another symbol library, but it's easier to modify an existing one.
Simply delete/re-arrange the folders and symbols as you wish until you have what you want.
Since the symbols in the symbol library are only shortcuts to the actual symbol files, deleting the symbols from the symbol library does not delete the symbol files themselves, so don't worry about that.

If you accidentally delete a symbol from the library, you can easily add it back by using Add existing graphical object.

And number # change from top to bottom and left to right.
We forgot to provide instructions about this.
Please refer to this forum thread for instructions.

Component Wire Tag

I would like to know how can I set the wire tag with component terminal?

Ex. <DeviceName><Terminal Number> Like K1.T1 or Q1.2

Wire numbering by connected component

I would like to know how can I set the wire tag with component terminal?
Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Drawing tab and select Show/Hide connection points to show the connection points of the symbols on the sheet
  2. Double-click on a connection point which the wire connects the (e.g. in your case terminal 1 of CO1)
  3. Double-click on the Connected wire numbering format cell, choose Wire numbering by connected component and click OK
  4. Close the dialog box
  5. Run Renumber Wires and you should see that wire numbered as you wish
  6. Repeat steps 2-4 for each connection point where you want the connected wire to be numbered this way

If you always want your symbol (e.g. in your case Citicel 3ME) to have this functionality, then select the block and Save.

Please let us know if this helps.

Wire Number by component

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for helping me in this steps, but it is not very accurate the number of wires. look at the example photo below and you can see that sometimes the numbers are good but next to it is totally wrong. There is a way to fix it?

I wish to be the wire number from where the source is coming from. As is shown in the photo the number of incoming to Q.1 will be 1,2,3 and the outgoing to be Q.1-2, Q.1-4 and Q.1-6.

The setting of the Numer orientation is set to Left top to bottom and Left to Right.

The bottom part of KM1 is wrong too. Should be KM1-6 and so on...

Found a solution

Hi Jeff,

I found a solution to the previous message.

I did the bottom part of each component terminal with Wire numbering by connected component, and all is working good as shown in the photo.

Well done

Well done. Thanks for taking the time to let us know!

FYI, once you're done, you will want to go back to the Drawing tab and turn off Show/Hide Connection Points, as they can get in the way when you're working normally on your schematics.
