#1 Wire Colors

Can't seem to get the wire color to show up on the sheet. The wire size is there but can't seem to show the wire color. See pic #22. Also how can I add custom wire colors to the list? See pic #23.

This may be a better way for you

Thanks for posting on the forum.

The way you're doing it in your screenshots, you are limited to having only one colour and one wire size for the entire net; i.e. all the wires coming out of that terminal on the power distribution block will have the same colour and size, which may not always be the case.

Instead, since you have the Advanced license, it would be better to follow this tutorial to set the properties of the wire and use the Wire Info symbol, instead of the Net Info symbol.

Please let us know if that makes sense, then we'll answer your secondary question.

That is the tutorial I used

That is the tutorial I used to get where I currently am.

Please note the portion of

Please note the portion of the tutorial which says:

From this wire list, you can change wire numbers, sizes, colors, part numbers, etc.
These properties can also be changed from the schematics by selecting the wire, going to the Home tab and selecting Explore single wire.

Based on your second screenshot, you are not exploring the properties of the single wire, but of the net.

Please double-check that and let us know.

Not sure why but on some

Not sure why but on some wires "Explore single wire"  does not appear and on others it does. See pics.

We found the problem.

Your catalogue part (9080LBA362104) is not compatible with the symbol you're using it on.
If you created that part directly from the Catalogue Tools tab, that would explain why.

We suggest re-creating that part, using the symbol you intend using for that, by following this tutorial

Once you've done that, delete PDB1 on your schematics, re-insert it and assign the part number to it.
After that, run Wire Renumbering/Processing.

Please let us know if this helps.

By the way, the same is true for the part number you assigned to FU1. The fact that some pins numbers appear and some do not is an indication of this.

I am a little confused. So

I am a little confused. So part number 9080LBA362104 is a power distribution block and I'm using it with a power distribution block symbol. So how are they not compatible? I do see the fuse is incorrect, thanks for letting me know.

In SkyCAD when a part is

In SkyCAD when a part is assigned to a symbol, the connection port groups of the part are mapped to the connection point groups of the symbol, making it so the correct pin numbers of the part appear in the correct places on the symbol(s).

However, when you create a catalogue part directly via Catalogue Tools, no connection ports or connection port groups are added to the part.
So, when you assign such a part to a symbol, the mapping cannot be done.

I think I understand. So is

I think I understand. So is it fair to say it is a best practice to drop symbols on the sheets, fill out the part information, and then save to catalog?

Precisely, as per the tutorial.
