#1 specified path, file name, or both are too long

Changed PCs and tried to open a SkyCad Package and I get an error the specified path, file name, or both are too long. I searched forum for this issue before and I found a thread that states to change the filetype from .SkyCadPackage to .zip and try to move to envirmonemnts, but I cannot change the file type on my pc. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm....

Thanks for posting in the forum, and for uploading your package.

We get an error when trying top open, but a different one.

In any case, here what you can do:

- Rename the package so that the extension is '.zip'.  (A SkyCAD Package is really just a zip file...)

- Extract the content directly under your SkyCAD environments folder.  (Normally 'C:\SkyCAD Environments\')

- Open SkyCAD and try opening the project, but reaching within the extracted folder, all the way to the project folder.

This allowed is to open the package.

I changed file type to .zip,

I changed file type to .zip, and extracted in skycad environments. I can open the folder in /environments, I see the project file, I click to open but nothing actually opens.

You need to dig deeper...

You are on the right path, but you need to dig deeper in the sub-folder structure:

The project file is located in

C:\SkyCAD Environments\Just Born Line 9 Controls NO LAYOUT Package\Catalogue\root class\work field classes\Project\Just Born Line 9 Controls NO LAYOUT.SkyCadFile

Making progress! I have

Making progress! I have sucessfully now opened the project, but I cannot edit as its its in read only mode and says I need to import to standard environment?

Indeed.

Indeed a package needs to be imported to be able to apply modifications.  Now that it's open, select the project from the tree view, and click 'Import/Import project into Standard Environment'.

Once the project is imported, close the packaged project and open the project from the default project folder.
