#1 Project Sheet Numbers & Table Of Contents

I have put together folders (with Alain's help) so that schematic line numbering does not begin until the Schematic Folder.  Thus new set of line numbers per folder.  This is very useful.

However, I just discovered that the table of contents lists the Sheet Number per the folder in the Number column, not the actual sheet number for the project.  This is probably fine in the table of contents, but it does not help with the reader navigating the entire project as the sheet number in the title block is also the sheet number per folder, not per project.  This means I have several Sheet 1 of 20, several Sheet 2 of 20 and so on.  Also, sheet renumbering does not affect sheets in a folder.

Is there an attribute or method to show the actual sheet number for the whole project?  This is to satisfy the goal of having sheet numbers correct in the Title block and I would like to add a column to the table of contents (or change the existing number column) so that the number represents the sheet number for the project, not just the folder.

Found A Manual Method

I found a manual method by manually renaming each sheet number, but I am still curious if there is an attribute for the actual sheet number for the whole project.

There may be, but let's explore a simpler solution first

Thanks for posting on the forum.

I am still curious if there is an attribute for the actual sheet number for the whole project.
There may be, but we before we explore that, we'd like to explore a simpler solution for you; would you mind numbering your sheets in the tree view according to the actual sheet number for the whole project?

This would make everything fall into place.

Also, sheet renumbering does not affect sheets in a folder.
By the way, sheet renumbering does affect sheets in folders, but not if you've manually changed the name of the sheets (as you must have done) since that activates the Tag frozen property of the sheet.

We may have to explore a different way

I renumbered all the sheets in my Schematics Subfolder and this does give me the correct sheet number in the title block.  However, the original reason for using folders is now defeated so I changed them back (removed frozen and ran a sheet renumber).  The reason for the folder was so that my line numbers could always start at the same place in each drawing regardless of all the preliminary sheets in the drawing such as cover, legends, etc.  Since each drawing may or may not contain all these preliminary sheets, using the folder gave me control over the line numbers and their starting point.

Essentially, I see two needs competing with each other.  I need to either deal with the sheet number issue as menitioned above or neglect the control of line numbers.  Can you please look further into the sheet number option unless you know of something different.  I will include a clip of my sheets below.  Using the Schematics folder as shown below assures my line numbers start at 0100 instead of 0900 (which would vary from drawing to drawing and would be confusing to the shop as to why the starting number is different from one project to another.
