#1 List Block modification

Hi,

Is it possible to modify the display of List Blocks to choose the attributes displayed in the header ? In particular, I'd like to display the tag, Description and some part information in the header of a connector list block that shows the connector pins

Try this

Thanks for posting on the forum.

Yes. Here's how:

  1. Once your list block is inserted, right-click on the heading text and choose Explore text
  2. Select the Value cell
  3. Go the Home tab and select <A> Process property queries
  4. Modify the text therein to read:
    <r:Parent.WorkObject.DisplayedLabel> <r:Parent.WorkObject.Description> (Connector table)

This will display the tag, description, then (Connector table). If you need help adding your other part information, please let us know what that property is called.

For now, this must be done manually on each list block inserted, but we'll see if it's possible to automatically apply to all inserted list blocks (not just connectors).

Please let us know if this helps.

Great

Hi,

Great, Thanks very much that worked perfectly. I've also got the part information I wanted showing. Having a way to select header information for all list blocks would be really useful.

On a related point. Is there a way to automatically display the Description (or other attribute) for the connector a connector pin is assigned to next to the pin in a diagram. Something similar to the way refernces to coils and conacts are displayed for relays.

Great

Thanks for letting us know that worked.

We figured out a way! Try this:

  1. Right-click on your modified list block and choose Save As. Be sure to give it a different name.
  2. When prompted, choose a symbol library folder to save it in (perhaps Terminals/Connectors)
  3. Insert that list block template from the library, holding the SHIFT while doing so
  4. In the window that pops up, go to the Show tab and select Connectors
  5. Choose the connector you want this list block to represent and click OK
  6. Insert the list block onto a sheet. It should automatically include the modifications

Yes. We'll get back to you on this shortly.

Here's how to display the connector description near the pin

Add a text near your connector pin symbol on the sheet, and copy/paste the following query into the Value cell of the text:

<r:GetParent.GetWorkObject.GetParent.Description>

Link the text to the connector pin itself using Link With. It should now display the Description of the connector.

Thanks Jeff. That worked well

Thanks Jeff. That worked well. and certainly makes things easier. I'll look forward to what you come up with for the connector pin question.

We replied already

Maybe you missed it, but we answered that in comment #5.

Sorry, the connector pin

Sorry, the connector pin method must have come in while I was testing the list block instructions. The connector pin fix also worked correctly. Thanks for the quick response.

Great!

No worries. Thanks for letting us know that helped!
