#1 Is it possible to use the same Symbol twice in a page?

Good evening Skycad team,

I created the symbols for a PLC whose terminals can be used as Input or Output (the manufacturer called them Universal terminals, ports U in jumper J2 of the attached image).

Within my project I separated pages according to the direction (digital inputs, analog inputs, analog outputs and so on). Due to the nature of the project, several Universal terminals had to be used as inputs and other as outputs. Such terminals were declared within the same channel as AnalogInputs to keep them in the same channel/Jumper.

I created a Symbol for the J2 Jumper alone (Universal IOs Symbol).

For this case, ports U1-U6 will be analog inputs, and U8-U10 will be analog Outputs.

However, the moment i set the link between both UniversalIO symbols to let skycad know its the same device, it automatically changes the channels and pins. It also messed up all the other links between the different symbols for the PLC.

Is it possible to use the symbols twice (or more) for the same device, or do I have to use it only once and use OPRs?

Kindest regards,

It is possible, yes, but a terminal can only be shown once

Thanks for posting on the forum.

It is possible, yes, but a specific terminal can only be shown once.

This is expected, since a terminal can only be shown once, so during the linking process, some terminals were changed to different terminals.

Here is a suggestion:

  • Insert both symbols you want to link, but don't link them yet
  • Delete some terminals from the block(s) so that when you link them, no terminal appears on both symbols
  • Link the symbols together and everything should be fine

Please let us know if this helps.
