#1 How to do flow through on linked symbols?

Hi there, good morning!

I have a 12-1 3P power distribution block here modeled as 10 individual symbols on my schematic (2 unused so far). I would like to activate flow-through so I can link my actual 3P nets properly and have the labeling correct. Port a should flow through to 1a, b to 1b, and c to 2c. I have 9 other blocks that will need the same treatment. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Austin

It's possible

Thanks for posting on the forum.

Allowing the numbers to flow through on a symbol is easy, but allowing flow through on linked symbols is quite difficult.

Nonetheless, here is what to do:

  1. Link all those symbols together
  2. Show the component in the tree view and select it
  3. Go to the Create/Add tab and select New connection port group
  4. Select Connection port group and click OK
  5. Expand its properties in the tree view and activate Flow Through
  6. Select the component in tree view, go to the Show tab and select Connection ports whilst holding the CTRL key, so that connection ports and connection port groups are both listed in the tree view
  7. Drag a, 1a, 2a, 3a, etc. into the connection port group, one by one. You will need to hold the SHIFT key when dropping them onto the connection port group.
Ignoring b and c, your result should be something like this:
  8. Renumber Wires should now allow the wire number to flow through
  9. Repeat steps 2-7 for b and c

Please let us know if this helps.
