#1 Blocks missing

Hi there!

I noticed that these 3 blocks I created you see on this page are now missing from the Communication folder expanded on the right side of the screenshot.

There are two weird "template" blocks and 3 completely blank blocks. The 3 blank blocks do put a part on the screen but the drawing is missing from it at least.

Hmmm....

Thanks for posting on the forum.

In order to understand what's going on, we would need you to make a ZIP of your environment folder and attach it to a forum reply.  This tutorial about backing-up your environment will indicate which folder we need you to ZIP.  (Note: only you and the SkyCAD staff will have access to your environment file.  All other users won't even be able to see the file.)

We will look at this as soon as we get your environment.

No problem! Here is my

No problem! Here is my environment. I believe sometime in the past I saved my symbol library to a new name too. Maybe that has something to do with it?

I also have my environment on Github. If that would be more convenient to you, just let me know!

Ah, ok.

I believe sometime in the past I saved my symbol library to a new name too.

There's the problem.  SkyCAD does not like it when you rename a library or do a 'Save As...'  The only way to make this work is to make sure you first expand all library folders (which makes it so all symbols are loaded, and then do a 'Save As...)

You quite probably have other symbols in other library folders that are messed up.

Can you easily revert back to the previous library?

Yes, at some point in the

Yes, at some point in the past I did a Save As to create a named library. Have been building the new library since.

Hmmm, I am not sure where to revert to because I have been rapidly building the symbol library. Are there other ways to fix this?

Hmmm....

Let us look at this in more details (since we have your environment on hand) and we'll get back to you with the best way to fix this.

Thank you! I appreciate it.

Thank you! I appreciate it. Just a fyi, I have added more symbols to the named library since I provided this. Let me know if you need a dump at end of workday or something like that, please.

Well..

You should know that every symbol you made are still OK.  The library only carries 'Shortcuts' to symbols and block files.  In teh wors case, we'll revert you back to the older library and you'll need to add symbos and blocks one by one.  (Which will be a bit of a manual task, but still a lot less than redoing all symbols...)

We'll keep you updated.

Ok!

Ok, it's going to be easy enough to fix.

You basically have to open each library folder 1 by 1 and identify each problematic icon.  For each one:

- Click to select it

- Click 'Home/open block'

- Once the block is open, click 'Home/Save' to see the icon back with a proper display in its library folder.

Let us know if this works out.

Thank you! I will respond if

Thank you! I will respond if I have trouble or after I thoroughly exercise this.

Yes, please keep us informed about how it turns out.

Good morning! This worked out

Good morning! This worked out perfectly. Thanks for the help.

Great!

Thanks for letting us know it worked out, and sorry for the hassle it generated in the first place!
