#1 Block scaling/dimensions changing

Hi there

I created a PLC digital input module using block generator and i need to define the dimensions (length and width). How can I do so ?

Thx

Is this for panel layout purposes?

Thanks for posting.

Once a block was generated with the Block Generator, you can always apply any manual modification afterwards, as you would to any library block.

Here is how you can do this:

- Select your newly generated block in the symbol library

- Form the Home tab, click on 'Open Block'

At this point, your block should be opened in edition mode whitin its own view, where you can apply any modification you wish to do.

You will find further information about modifying symbols and block in the Making a new symbol tutorial.

Let us know if this was helpful!

Can't change size of block per instructions above

I have opened the block as indicated, and everything except the block size is editable. The block outline cannot be selected, thus I am not able to see the red circles that normally pop up for dragging to change the size. What could prevent the block outline from being locked from editing?

Try this...

Thanks for posting on the forum, and sorry for the late reply.

While the block is open in edit mode, you can double click the rectangle object to explore its properties, and make sure the 'sub-selectable' property is checked.  This will allow you to select the rectangle when the block is used on a sheet, and resize the rectangle as you would with regular rectangle (by moving its two construction points.)

Let us know if this wors out.

Still not working

Even with 'sub-selectable' box checked, I still can't select the rectangle.

My work-around may have to be to re-do all the blocks, but it would be great to avoid that if possible.

Hmmm....

Can you attach the block file where even setting 'Sub-Selectable' does not allow you to resize the block?

Thanks in advance.

(Note: Let us know if you need help figuring out the file name and location of the block.)

I attached the block

I attached the block. I will attach to this message as well just in-case.

Not quite...

Thanks for the file, but it's not the file we need.  You have attached the catalogue part from which the block was generated.  We need the genrated block file.

You should find a file with a similar name under <your SkyCAD Environments path>\Standard Environment\Catalogue\root class\SkyCad specific Classes\Graphical Element\graphical object\graphical block\work block\

That's the file we need.

See Telex CES-1.SkyCadFile attached

I Attached the correct file per your instructions above:

<your SkyCAD Environments path>\Standard Environment\Catalogue\root class\SkyCad specific Classes\Graphical Element\graphical object\graphical block\work block\Telex CES-1.SkyCadFile

Note that there are several blocks with the same problem. This is only one example. The blocks with the issues were created by a colleague in location remote from myself. The SkyCAD Environment is shared and located on the cloud using a service called Box Box — Secure Cloud Content Management, Workflow, and Collaboration

Ok.

Thanks for uploading your block.
