#1 Component connector labels not showing

My custom components loose their connection labels, if the project saved and reopened.

If i delete the component and add it again all labels are there. But if i save and open the project again then they disappear.

Please see the screenshot.

Hmmm...

Thanks for posting on the project.

Can you make a package of your project and attach it to a reply?  It will help us figure out the issue.

Question: does it do this for all blocks generated from the Block Generator, or just this one?

here you go

here you go

I had this problem recently

I had this problem recently and I think it was because I inserted the block in the drawing and then changed its part number ??

hmm

@mark i had also changed the part numbers.

I tried in a new project now and you are right. If the part number is changed then the labels disappear with next open.

Then the question is that, how to use a component with different part numbers ?

Do a save as...

Then the question is that, how to use a component with different part numbers ?

For blocks that come out of the block generator, they are ineed 'tied' to the catalogue part they were generated from.  When you want to use a different part number, you must open the catalogue part the block was based on, make a 'Save As' and generate new blocks for it, and insert that block.

Thanks a lot Mark for your help on this!

no problem

no problem.

Can you just clarify the correct procedure to do this in a bit more detail please ?

What exactly do you mean "open the catalog part the block was based on" ?

For example I have three generated blocks (power, control in, alarm out) for one 2.2KW drive. If I also want to have a 1.5KW drive, a 1.1KW drive, a 0.75KW drive, a 0.55KW drive, and a 0.37KW drive am I going to have to generate 3 x new blocks for each of these drive sizes ? That sounds like a lot of work ! Being able to edit a part number would certainly make things a lot easier. In a futuire release could the block generated blocks be changed to behave more like the standard symbols to allow for this ?

Thank you,

Mark

Yes...

am I going to have to generate 3 x new blocks for each of these drive sizes ?

In one word: yes.  You would need to click 'Block generator/Open component', and open your 2.2KW drive part, make your modifications, apply a 'Save As', and then generate the three blocks again.

We are fully aware this process could be improved, and it will.  The 'Save As' process will identify the already generated blocks and propose to copy them as well.

diff. solution

I find out a little easier way;

1. Place the original part.

2. Right click the part and select Assign from catalogue.

3. Select the original part from catalogue and right click and select save as. Give the part number/name that you want to use.

4. Select the new part from catalogue and and click ok

thats all.

Yes indeed...

Indeed that will work as well.  We did not think about it ourself!
