#1 IEC Library Symbol Is Gone

I created a generic safety relay using the block generator and then inserted it inyo my drawing. Terminals were to close, so I opened the block and repositioned the terminals wider apart and then closed and saved it.

When the relay symbol was inserted onto the page it had not changed. When I opened the block in the IEC symbol library the terminals were indeed repositioned to new locations. I once again inserted the relay and changes were not present.

Skycad now crashed and when restarted, my relay symbol was gone from the sheet and also from the library. However, when I checked in the enviornment ...............component, it was still present.

What might I have done wrong?

The library was simply not saved...

Thanks for posting on the forum.

What might I have done wrong?

Rest assured, nothing!  It simply that SkyCAD crashed on you before having a chance to save th emodified library.  So your symbol is saved in the catalogue, but just not present in the library.

Here's how to retreive it:

- Select on 'SkyCAD' and the 'Create/Add' tab

- Click on 'Open Project', but change the path where it looks to:

C:\SkyCAD Environments\Standard Environment\Catalogue\root class\SkyCad specific Classes\Graphical Element\graphical object\graphical block\work block\

- You should find a file with your block part number in there.  Select it and click 'Open'.

- The block should open, and you should see it as an item in the tree view.  Simply click on it and click 'Save'.

- The process shoud ask you for a library folder.  Select the one you want and click OK.

That should get you your symbol back in the library.

Let us know if that was succesful!

P.S.: The title of you message does not seem to correspond to the message.  Have you indeed lost the entire IEC library, or just the block?

Worked fine. Yes message is

Worked fine. Yes message is misleading, only the block was lost.

Glad it worked out!  Thanks for letting us know!
